The Kuzari is a work that embraces the spiritual pillars of the world. It contains the essence of the entire Torah: Its concepts, its ways, its teachings, and its commandments. It not only discusses these matters in a broad general sense, but offers explanations for the specific details of many mitzvos, traditons, and customs. It casts its brilliant radiance on all these subjects, making them bright as the noonday sun. He who studies the Kuzari will find himself bathed in pure light. Nevertheless, the author's style and the book's lack of systemantic stucture have frustrated the efforts of many readers. In 1965 Rav Yechezkel Sarne rearranged the contents of the Kuzari, restructuring it into chapters and sub-chapters according to the topics the Kuzari addresses. Rabbi Avrohom Davis' original translation of this restructured Kuzari and his incisive footnotes will hopefully insure th Kuzari a greater readability and a wider audience than it has hertofore enjoyed. This attractive volume should be of tremendous interest to anyone concerned with the basic hashkofos (concepts) of Torah Judaism. |
