If a book can be judged by its influence, it must be said that Rabbi Yaakov Culi's Me'am Lo'az ranks among the greatest classics of Jewish literature. As a Bible commentary it is encyclopedic in scope, drawing upon the entire spectrum of Judaic literature: Talmud, Midrash, Halachah, Zohar and Kabballah, anthologizing virtually every Biblical commentary that existed in the time of the author. Yet while the Me'am Lo'az is a truly scholarly work it is written for the average man in an easy colloquial language, making it available for any that would like to study it.
