he Hebrew noun tzitzit [tsiˈtsit] (Hebrew: ציצית) (Biblical, Middle Eastern, and Western European(Sephardic)) pronunciation: tzitzit or ṣiṣit; Eastern European(Ashkenazic) and Yiddish pronunciation: tzitzis; Yemenite pronunciation: ṣiṣith) is the name for specially knotted ritual fringes worn by observant Jews. Tzitzit are attached to the four corners of the tallit (prayer shawl) and tallit katan (everday undergarment).
